The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge, ...
What does it mean by "fear"?  To have Holy Fear, Reverence, Respect.
Why is "the fear of the Lord" the beginning of wisdom and knowledge?
Consider:
If you don't fear the Lord, then you won't have a lot of motivation to change.
Is the Bible really the 100% accurate word of God?  If you deny that it is,
then you'll be judging what is and isn't God's Word, and the Scriptures will be
as dumb as you are.
However, if you accept the Bible as 100% accurate and trust God, then even if the Bible
is 10% corrupted (which it isn't),  you will still grow far more in wisdom and
understanding, than
by judging God's Word.  (This is a true attitude of humility and reverence.)
Does your lifestyle reveal that you really fear God?  (in a healthy sense)
Examples:
Ex 20:18-21  If the people fear the Lord, it will protect them from sin.
Josh 2:1-14  Rahab even sold out her country because she feared the Lord.
Job 1:1,4-5  Job feared the Lord by shunning evil and doing everything possible
to make amends with God.
Psalm 112:1  Blessed is the man who fears God.  By delighting in His law, we do
the right things, which produces blessings.
Prov 1:7b
But fools despise wisdom and instruction.
Have you ever gone to a party where someone has said,
The fact that people despise wisdom is what makes them fools.
Prov 3:11  "Do not despise the chastening of the Lord, nor detest His correction."
Prov 9:8  "Don't reprove a scoffer, lest he hate you; rebuke a wise man, and he
will love you."
The only cure for doubting God's Word, is reading God's Word.  In other words,
listening to God.
Accepting what the Bible says, whether it feels good or not, will
increase our wisdom and understanding, which we all need.
2Tim 3:16-17  "All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable ..."
Ps 1:1-3  "Blessed is the man, ... [whose] delight is in the law of the Lord, ..."
